When I was in high school, I can remember trying to help my parents find a new home. As we looked at properties, I would guess the asking price of each home and questioned why homes in certain areas seemed to be higher than others. I also found myself questioning why some homes seemed to have a "for sale" sign out front for what appeared to be eternity and what could be done to help such sellers.
Initially, however, I did attempt to turn my real estate interests into a real estate career. Like many of my peers, I attended college with little knowledge as to my future professional goals. Despite obtaining my Bachelors of Arts at Eastern Kentucky University and embarking on a professional career in a field unrelated to real estate, my interest in the real estate market never subsided. After several years, I found that I continued to follow various real estate trends through news, television, etc. and, most importantly, I was not doing the same for my own profession. In other words, I could hold a conversation with a real estate professional regarding market trends better than I could hold a conversation with my co-workers regarding developments in the very industry I worked.
After coming to this epiphany, I realized I was not satisfied in my selected profession and decided to pursue my long-time dreams of working in real estate. Within weeks, I had left my job and obtained my Tennessee Real Estate License. This change was one of the best decisions I have ever made, as I am now happily engaged in the profession of my dreams!
